Video misleading

The claim made with the video turned out to be misleading. A person named Ashish Mishra also tweeted the video.

They are vegetable sellers

IT Park police have arrested two accused for pouring beer on Shivlinga in the case. However, as mentioned in the viral video, it has come to light that this young man is not a Muslim but a Hindu. The accused, identified as Naresh and Dinesh, are residents of Indira Colony. DSP S. P. S. Sondhi said that both the youths sell vegetables in the market. In a statement to the police, the accused said that he saw a Shivling on the bank of the lake. We did this to clean it up.

Hindu organizations had protested

The Indian Express had also published the minutes of the incident on June 27, 2022. After the video went viral, police arrested two youths, Dinesh Kumar and Naresh Kumar. Investigations revealed that the video was shot on the banks of the Ghaggar River in Panchkula. While both were drunk, they found a Shivling on the bank of the river. They poured beer on it to clean it. The duo claimed that a minor boy was present at the scene and that he had recorded the video at their behest. Three days after the video went viral, some right-wing organizations protested. One of the organizations had lodged a complaint with the IT Park Police Station on Friday. Both have been charged under Section 295A of the Penal Code.

Irresponsibility to make videos viral without confirmation

IT Park police station SHO Rohtash Yadav said the accused in the case were Naresh and Dinesh. Both belong to the Hindu community. This incident is not related to our part and we have taken action based on the complaint. Overall, this is an attempt to create a rift between the two religions by irresponsibly viralizing the video.
